While the budget and upgrading Virginia's mental health system will top the agenda when legislators return to Richmond on Wednesday, those won't be the only issues on lawmakers'
minds.
As of Friday more than 500 pieces of legislation had been filed, and many more are on the way.
Lawmakers will have to deal with the unpopular abusive driver fees that were passed last year. Bills to repeal the fees already have been filed. Others want to keep the fees but possibly narrow the list of what triggers them and to apply them to out-of-state drivers.
Legislators are due to update and upgrade curriculum standards for public schools, a process known as "re-benchmarking," at an estimated cost of 1 billion dollars.
There are bills in response to football star Michael Vick's imprisonment on federal dogfighting charges last year.
Others would require voters to register by party, require the use of wooden bats instead of aluminum ones for interscholastic baseball teams, ban gas chambers for euthanizing animals and add box cutters to the list of weapons that can't be concealed.
Don't know about y'all, but with nothing more than that to deal with, maybe we can put em on road construction crews to give em somethin to do......but the thing that really got my attention was the ball bat thing...lol..play ball
